One of the criticisms I read about on twitter and hear on podcasts from other dynasty sites is the UTH Way is not about winning, it is about building sexy rosters full of young players.
The basic tenet of the UTH Way is to build your core around quality young wide receivers and hold onto the core as you strengthen and shore up your team.
Make no mistake about it, our goal is to build a dynasty team which can be in contention each and every season and has the ability to dominate!
I wanted to touch on a few players I have been asked about on twitter lately and “what would you do”.

Fugazi vs Core
If you have ever watched a gangster movie then you know “fugazi” is another word for a fake. Each owner must assess their team and decide for themselves who are their core assets and who are the fugazi? The key is to trade away the fakes once they have flashed and earn a profit to upgrade your team.
Jarvis Landry is a good example of a player who had a great rookie season and if he starts hot then it is time to sell. He does not have the innate talent to sustain putting up WR1 numbers, not to mention the additional talent Miami added who will steal targets. If you can find a dynasty owner who looks at Landry as a WR1, get a barrel and hold it over him.
A core player is someone who has the talent to sustain multiple years of top production. Their fantasy value isn’t a fluke spurred by a great situation or one season of heavy touchdown scoring. The 2014 and 2015 classes have both been a rich resource of strong core players.
Right now is about the worst time to sell a young core wide receiver asset because to the rest of the dynasty community they are still “unproven”.
The other reason to hold onto this type of player is because you acquired them to be part of your core! You want to reap the benefit of their fantasy production for as long as they have to give it to you. By having a deep bench of strong wide receivers, your team can sustain a championship run through setbacks, injuries, bye weeks etc.
Allen Robinson
Look up his metrics if you need to be reminded of why you drafted him. He averaged 8 targets per game last season before he got hurt. He has a quarterback with which he will grow. Robinson has the prototypical size you want in a No.1 receiver. He is a core asset until he proves otherwise.
A friend asked me about trading Arob for what amounted to CJ Anderson. I advised I would not do it, he would be better off keeping Robinson. The trade itself is fairly even, however, you don’t sell a young core asset for even value. If it is not a knock-your-socks-off offer, then hang onto him. This owner would regret the trade in a short while and could sink his dynasty team in the process.
I asked to see his roster and his receivers were: Adams, Evans, OBJ, Robinson, Jeffrey, M.Wilson and Demaryius.
Do you see what I see here? The receiver he would be better off trading is Demaryius Thomas. He should be able to get a young core receiver like Kevin White, Amari Cooper, or DeVante Parker plus a Round 1 pick, plus something else if he is patient and shops him during the season when Thomas is on a high.
Davante Adams
Because of UTH I own Adams in 13 of 17 dynasty leagues. His talent and situation has been there and now his opportunity is a premium one. I have heard rumblings from some – now is the time to sell Adams for a profit. I could not disagree more.
Adams has the talent and situation to be a core asset for years. Some people ask “what if Nelson comes back and gets his old job back; pushing Adams back to WR3 status”. It doesn’t change the fact Nelson will be 31 years old next season.
This is dynasty and not all assets will be kicking on full cylinder at the same time. Unless you get an offer so good you cannot refuse it, I would suggest keeping Adams and his production on your team. There are so many doubters about Adams’ “unproven” status, I’m not sure you would find a buyer who is willing to overpay.

Stay Proven
As owners wake from their summer slumber you will be hit with a barrage of offers. Don’t fall into the trap of trading a core asset just for the art of the deal. Trading is fun, it gives you a rush. I get it. Make each trade count and have a purpose. Stay on the proven track of letting your core assets carry your dynasty team to contender status.
