This startup draft series continues as teams build their important core rosters. Read up on the format of the league (dynasty best ball), scoring, and opening two rounds of draft commentary in Part 1.

Round 3

With a middle draft slot, I had 3.06 in this round. With Brandin Cooks drafted to finish Round 2, I had a few 2014 rookies in mind here. Allen Robinson, Donte Moncrief, and Davante Adams were on the short list. First, I had to wait a handful of selections and dodge a stream of snipers to open the round.

3.01 DeMarco Murray

3.02 Kevin White (Looks about right after his combine)

3.03 Aaron Rodgers

3.04 Allen Robinson

3.05 Melvin Gordon

Now, with Donte Moncrief and Davante Adams both on the board, I had a decision to make. I explored trading up to get both with back-to-back selections. Unfortunately that did not materialize. So, it was a head-to-head decision here. Both are close in my dynasty values chart and locking into great quarterbacks for the foreseeable future. I broke the tie and went with Donte Moncrief. I love me some Adams, but sided with Moncrief’s big-play potential in the best ball format.

3.07 Keenan Allen

3.08 Jordan Matthews

3.09 Kelvin Benjamin

3.10 Jeremy Hill

3.11 Davante Adams

I did try to trade into these spots to secure Adams, but the deals did not materialize. A great value here by @JustinTimeNFL.

3.12 Michael Floyd
